EU projects in which EuropaBio is a partner

Promoting bioethical practices in business: From GMP to GBP

The project aims at improving understanding of bioethical issues by using the daily practices of biotechnology companies, to elaborate clear and independent positions based on regularly updated scientific and technological data. It will also contribute to include industry into the dialogue with the largest audiences.

Over 50 participants attended the bioethics conference in Brussels held as part of the project "From GMP to GBP" jointly organised by EuropaBio and France Biotech on Monday 9th February 2009. Lively discussions were held around a number of topics, including bioethics and clinical trials, bioethics and genetic testing, biobanking and gene and cell therapy. EuropaBio's Core Ethical Values for the biotech industry, prepared as part of the project were also presented.

Willy De Greef, EuropaBio's Secretary General, and Erik Tambuyzer, chair of EuropaBio's Ethics Working Group highlighted the importance of the Bioethics project and EuropaBio's Core Ethical Values at the Bioethics conference in February 2009.

Biorefinery Euroview

The Biorefinery Euroview is designed to support European policy (agriculture, forestry, energy and research policies in particular) and to strengthen the European Research Area, in order to increase the competitiveness of European territorial systems in the biorefinery field.

NanoBioRaise - promoting transparent communication on nano-biotech

Completed in October of 2008, NanoBioRaise is helping to anticipate the societal and ethical issues likely to arise as nanobiotechnologies develop and, secondly, to use the lessons from the European GM debate to respond pro-actively and responsibly to the probable public, media and political concerns.

BeCoTEPs

BeCoTEPs analyses the cross-cutting issues and seek to improve the understanding and implementation of R&D and policies on these issues at European and MS level. (The Bio-Economy Technology Platforms join forces to address synergies and gaps between their Strategic Research Agendas), a project which analyses the cross-cutting issues between the different KBBE-related technology platforms and seeks to improve the understanding and implementation of R&D and policies on these issues at European and Member State level.

Star-Colibri

Star-Colibri aims at gathering information and results on past and ongoing research projects on biorefinery and foster their dissemination and further use by the community research and industry. The goal of the FP7 project, Star-Colibri (Strategic TARgets for 2020 - COLlaboration Initiative in BioRefInery), is to promote coordination and work to overcome fragmentation in the field of biorefineries' research, to facilitate information exchange and cross-fertilisation, and to support break-through innovations by speeding up and facilitate industrial exploitation of research results.
