The Austrian Biotech Industry (ABI) has as its ambition, to give the public as well as policy makers an understanding of the potential and the requirements of biotechnology. Membership of this special interest group domiciled in the Federation of the chemical industry of Austria comprises well-established companies working in the field of biotechnology as well as young start-up companies. ABI represents about 95% of the Austrian value creation of biotech activities.

DANSK BIOTEK is an active organisation which is in a continuous dialogue with the Danish authorities and who is recognised as an authority regarding biotechnology in the public debate. DANSK BIOTEK has furthermore taken steps to increase the public knowledge about modern biotechnology. The organisation publishes books and articles, participates in the public debate and teaches in biotech research conditions, genetic modification, ethical matters etc.

Estonian Biotechnology Association (EBio) was founded in 2003 by 15 biotechnology companies and organizations. Currently, EBio joins 20 members, both enterprises as well as research institutions. The purpose of EBio is to represent the Estonian biotechnology sector both outside the sector as outside Estonia, and to support the development of the sector.

Finnish Bioindustries FIB is Finland's biotechnology industry association, established in 1997. It is a private, independent non-profit organisation. Member companies represent all life science areas, from health care and functional food to biomaterials. In addition industry organisations such as Chemical Industry Federation, Pharma Industry Finland, Finnish Food and Drink Industries' Federation, Finnish Forest Industries Federation and Finnish Crop Protection Association are members of FIB.

BIO Germany as the branch organization of the biotechnology industry, has set itself the aim of supporting the development of an innovative industry based on the modern life sciences and promote. The now more than 260-member trade association based in Berlin is run by a zahnköpfigen Board, composed of CEOs and executives of biotechnology companies and managers of bioregions. This body broadly representative of the different areas of the industry.

VBU Association of German Biotech Companies was founded in October 1996 on the initiative of 55 biotech companies, making it the oldest industrial biotechnology association in Germany. VBU now has over 230 corporate members.
Since its foundation VBU has devoted itself to the promotion of science and technology and the transfer of research findings into innovations. Furthermore VBU works in close collaboration with other national and international organisations from the areas of biotechnology, pharma, and knowledge and technology transfer.

The Irish BioIndustry Association (IBIA) is the leading representative body for the Biotechnology Industry in Ireland, has over 50 member companies and is affiliated to IBEC. The main aim of IBIA is to promote, support and encourage the further development of the multinational and indigenous biotech sector in Ireland. IBIA achieves this by building and maintaining excellent relations and a positive profile with Government, public agencies, other representative organisations, international bodies and patient groups.

Set up in October 1986 within the Italian Federation of the Chemical Industry (Federchimica), Assobiotec is the Italian Association for the Development of Biotechnology, representing more than 100 companies and science & technology parks operating in Italy and involved in various biotech-related fields: pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, agro-food, fine chemicals, environment, processing industry and equipment. They include emerging biotech companies and small to medium enterprises, as well as the biotech divisions of large organisations.

Lithuanian Biotechnology Association (LBTA) was founded in 2003, 14 October. Association members are physical persons and legal entities.

The purpose of LBTA is to represent Lithuanian biotech companies and research institutions, to organize actions that stimulate progress of the biotechnological sector. LBTA prepared the Program on the Development of Industrial Biotechnology in Lithuania for 2007 - 2010, that was approved by the Government (2006), founded the Lithuanian Biotechnology Platform (2007). The National Integrated Program of Biotechnology and Biopharmacy was prepared together with the Institute of Biotechnology and Lithuanian Association of Pharmaceutical Industrial Enterprises (2008).

The Netherlands Niaba

For over twenty years, the Netherlands Biotech Industry Association (Niaba) has brought together more than seventy of its home country’s biggest and finest biotech-related companies en organizations. Its members operate in fields such as human and animal health, food, feed, agriculture and the environment.

Niaba counts large, globally operating companies such as Unilever, DSM, and Schering-Plough among its members. However, the association also involves small biotech companies, research institutions and other associations operating in adjacent fields.

BioFArmind is the association for the biotech, pharmaceutical and life science industry, in short, the medical biotechnology industry in the Netherlands. BioFarmind to the network for biotechnology across the board, ie from "Patent to Pill" and fundamental research to the experienced marketers. Inside BioFarmind you are the network of medical biotechnology. The Association of Biotechnology pharmaceutical industry in the Netherlands aims at defending the interests of the biotechnology pharmaceutical companies in general to all interested institutions and organizations.

Norwegian Bioindustry Association (NBA) was established autumn 2001 by representatives for Norwegian biotechnological industries and the Confederation of Norwegian Business and Industry (NHO). The Association is an independent member organization with purpose to promote development of Norwegian biotechnological trade and research.

NBA's main focus will be to work on the cases that is important to the industry. It is also a prioritized task to participate in building a bridge between biotechnological industry and research communities in universities and colleges. The association has a nationwide perspective.
